Vision

Cover Image The Pirate of Kindergarten by George Ella Lyon

One of my kids was diagnosed with an eye condition called exotropia.  It means that one of his eyes wanders off to the outside every once in a while.  I had no idea that he had this until he was well into second grade.  It is so important to get this diagnosed since it can impact his reading and writing.  He had told me that he had been having double vision since kindergarten, but had no idea that the way he saw was not normal.  To this day nobody outside of our family has seen his eye float.  He often covers one eye if he is not wearing glasses while reading.  We found this book quite by accident since we thought it was just about starting kindergarten.  It turned out to be about a girl with double vision.  My son certainly related to her character.
